Sewing with New Fabrics

I’m working on a quilt for our online shop so we can photograph it and show the fabrics in a different pattern than the fabric makers. I’m using the Rifle Paper Co. for Cotton + Steel fabric line and I’m completely in love with it! It’s so pretty with it’s designs and the fat quarter bundles, which we’re pre-selling in the shop, also include the voile, and canvas. (I have plans for a tote bag for those.)

I’m using Essex Linen by Robert Kaufman for the first time with it and I’m loving how it comes out! Has anyone else used that fabric before? I feel a love affair coming on with that stuff. It’s perfect for my current project, a pattern by Eye Candy Quilts, but I’m also daydreaming about all the quilts I want to make with it. They just came out with a metallic version too and it’s so pretty in person!

Of course, I have to have my sewing assistants right behind me making sure I’m getting my work done.

What are your experiences with Essex Linen? I’m curious to know!

Essex Linen was a surprise to me as well. I did not expect to like it as much as I did and I can definitely understand the love affair. 🙂 I have had good success using it in several projects, including paper piecing.
